“In the International Year of Salmon, a new environmental holiday — the Day of Salmon — was organized in the Amur basin by the initiative of WWF Russia. During a week starting since May 15, more than 2 000 people have already taken part in the number of events dedicated to salmon conservation.
The Day of Salmon became the central event of the public campaign “Freedom to Salmon” organized by WWF Russia in the Year of Salmon in the Amur basin together with partners – nature reserves and national parks, student nature protection brigades and NGOs. On May 15, it opened the traditional days of protection of small rivers and reservoirs in the Amur Ecoregion.”
