Within the framework of the project CATCH a photo competition about sustainable recreational fishing at the Baltic Sea coast was organized. Now the winning submissions of our competition “Fishing South Baltic” have been awarded.

The CATCH photo competition was held within the partner countries and the submitted pictures were meant to give an impression of the possibilities for coastal recreational fishing, the nature and sustainable tourism within the region. Therefor atmospheric fishing moments, pictures of angling equipment, of fish within the water or of the landscape and not only trophy pictures of the biggest catch were requested. The participants had the opportunity to upload up to three pictures to the competition database and to combine them with a personal massage.

The winner of the competition was selected by a jury composed of experts from all four project countries: Marcin Budniak – Green Federation “GAJA”, Andreas Findling- Rottem & Christian Flinker – Danish Sportsfishing Association, Antanas Kontautas – Klaipėda University and Simon Weltersbach – Thünen Institute of Baltic Sea Fisheries. The picture “The big throw” by Oliver Sykora, showing himself surf fishing in front of the former Beelitz shipyard on Fehmarn in Germany, convinced all jury members equally and is the winner of the CATCH photo contest.

A presentation with the ten winning submissions can be downloaded here. You are welcome to discover the South Baltic Region as an interesting and attractive destination for recreational fishing and sustainable tourism! The best pictures were also displayed during the final conference of the project on April 05th – 06th 2019 in Dźwirzyno, Poland.

The competition was supported by the fishing shop www.pro-fishing.eu, the photo service company www.pixum.com and the publishing house “Jahr Top Special Verlag“.

Many thanks to our jury, the sponsors and all participants of the competition!
